Basketball Team Fouls: Bench, Coach, Personal & TF
Faltas de Equipo en Baloncesto: Banco, Entrenador, Personal & FT

• No Más de Cinco Jugadores en el Campo
• No More than Five Players on Court

( for English Translation= See Below )

The Basketball Rule Fundamental:
If the officials discover that more than five players are playing on the court simultaneously for the same team, the error must be corrected as soon as possible without placing the opponents at a disadvantage.

Assuming that the officials and the table officials are doing their job correctly, one player must have entered or remained on the court illegally. The officials must therefore order one player to be removed from the court immediately and charge a technical foul against the coach of that team. The coach is responsible for ensuring that a substitution is applied correctly and that the substituted player leaves the court immediately after the substitution.

Case 1.- Rule: The game shall be stopped immediately unless team B is placed at a disadvantage. The player who has entered (or remained in) the game illegally must be removed from the game and a technical foul (recorded as 'B') shall be charged against that team's coach.

Case 2.- Rule: The game shall be stopped immediately. The player who has entered (or remained in) the game illegally must be removed from the game and a technical foul (recorded as 'B') shall be charged against that team’s coach.

• More than Five Players on Court
• Más de Cinco Jugadores en el Campo

( para Traducción al Español= Ver a Continuación )

Referring to this topic: while the game is being played it is discovered that team A has more than five players playing on the court.

Which is the rule and, principally, how we record the play if:

1.- At the time of the discovery, team B ( with five players ) is in control of the ball.
2.- At the time of the discovery, team A ( with more than five players ) is in control of the ball.

• the same registration rule of any Technical Foul

( for English Translation= See Below )

No difference for the stats-men: the same registration rule of any Technical Foul.

See for definitions and discussion in the Global Basketball Encyclopedia.

The rule: if the offender player is known, in a bench technical foul, both the coach and the player get charged with a T, and the statistician charges only that player with the 'turnover'.

But if the Technical Foul is for personal misconduct of the coach, he is charged and 2 Ts are sufficient for the coach to be ejected. The statistician charges a 'team turnover'.

See the eBA treatment of 'team turnovers' at the eBA Basketball Analysis System.

What is the difference between an bench foul and a foul on a coach ? And what are the stats-rules in both cases ?

May be a player charged with a technical foul be also charged with a personal foul ?

Is a technical foul counted as a team foul ?
Thanks.

Gracias.
