Similarity scores are a method of comparing basketball players to other players, with the intent of discovering who the single most similar historical player is to a certain player.
This method have been used to determine career paths and projected statistics for players. The logic behind this line of thought is simple: players often follow similar career trajectories to their most similar players, so the historical similar players' performance in years after the active player's current age should be a good predictor of that active player's future production.
Similarity scores are also used extensively in many statistical forecasting programs but is not used by the eBA Basketball Statistics Creative Analysis System.

Resultados similares  es un método de comparación de jugadores de baloncesto con otros jugadores, con la intención de descubrir cuál es la figura histórica más parecida a un cierto jugador.
Este método ha sido utilizado para determinar líneas de carrera y estadísticas proyectadas para jugadores. La lógica en esta línea de pensamiento es simple: los jugadores a menudo siguen en sus carreras trayectorias similares a sus más parecidos jugadores, por tanto la comparación de performance histórica de los jugadores similares a la misma edad del corriente jugador activo podría ser un buena forma de prever la futura producción de ese jugador actual.
Resultados similares también son utilizados intensamente en muchos programas estadísticos de predicción pero no es usado por el Sistema eBA de Análisis Creativo de las Estadísticas del Baloncesto.

The ''Counterpart Statistics'' for player A represent the statistics registered by the opposing team's player at A's position.

The  eBA Basketball Statistics Analysis System does not applies this method due to the difficulty to interpret it: in modern basketball positions are not clearly defined but generally  integrated.

Grinnel College es un pequeño colegio de artes liberales en Grinnel, estado de Iowa, EE.UU. Fue fundado en 1846, cuando un grupo de congregacionalistas llegados de New England con una fuerte orientación social reformista formó el ' Trustees of Iowa College'.
 
Los equipos de baloncesto del Grinnell son uno de los equipos con más records ofensivos en baloncesto universitario a nivel nacional - NCAA - Midwest Conference - 3ra. División - y en Febrero 2005, Grinnell se convirtió en el primer equipo universitario de 3ra. División transmitido por la red nacional de televisión ESPN 2 en un partido contra los Beloit Buccaneers. El equipo de baloncesto del Grinnell College atrajo a la ESPN debido a su único estilo de jugar baloncesto, conocido simplemente como "El Sistema".
  
En una forma mucho más parecida al hockey sobre hielo, el "sistema" del entrenador David Arsseneault incorpora una defensa a presión continua en todo el campo, un ritmo de juego rápido con una gran cantidad de ataques rápidos, lanzamiento en menos de 12 segundos después de recuperar el balón, énfasis en el rebote ofensivo, una gran cantidad de lanzamientos de tres, y substituciones de cinco jugadores a la vez cada 35 o 40 segundos, haciendo jugar a 15 a 17 jugadores cada partido. • El equipo debe lanzar al menos 94 lanzamientos por partido;
• Al menos la mitad de esos tiros deben ser de tres puntos;
• Como mínimo debemos tirar a canasta 25 veces más que el oponente;
• Los rebotes ofensivos deben ser al menos un 33% de nuestros tiros intentados;
• El equipo debe generar 32 pérdidas de balón en el rival con la defensa a presión.

No existe otra relación de este "sistema" con nuestro Sistema de Análisis Creativo de las Estadísticas del Baloncesto, que la de su aplicación en el análisis de los datos estadísticos.

"The System" of the Grinnell College

Grinnell College is a small liberal arts college in Grinnell, Iowa, USA. It was founded in 1846, when a group of transplanted New England Congregationalists with a strong social-reformer orientation formed the 'Trustees of Iowa College'.
 
Grinnell basketball teams is one of the teams with more offensive records in the high school national level - NCAA - Midwest Conference - Division III - and in February 2005, Grinnell became the first Division III school to broadcast a non-championship basketball game on national television when it faced off against the Beloit Buccaneers on ESPN 2. Grinnell College's basketball team attracted ESPN's due to the team's unique style of playing basketball, known simply as "The System."
 
In a fashion much like an ice hockey match, Coach David Arsseneault's "system" incorporates a continual full-court press, a fast-paced offense with a lot of fast-breaks, shooting in less than 12 seconds after a ball steal, an emphasis on offensive rebounding, a barrage of three-point shots, and substitutions of five players at a time every 35 to 40 seconds, playing between 15 to 17 players every game. "The System" been criticized for not teaching the principles of defense, in spite of the pressing defenses which are applied.
 
However, under "The System," Grinnell has won three conference championships over the past ten years and have regularly placed in the top half of the conference. Coach Arseneault's teams have also set numerous NCAA scoring records and several individuals on the Grinnell team have led the nation in scoring, steals or assists. In the last season the team was first with 117.3 points and 16 steals per game.
 
This are the principal 5 principles of "The System":

• The team must shoot at least 94 times per game;
• At least half of this shoots must be from three points;
• Minimum we must throw to the basket 25 times more than the opponent;
• Offensive rebounds must be at least a 33% of the total of our throws;
• The team must force the opponent to 32 turnovers with a pressing defense.

There is no relation from this "system" with our eBA Basketball Statistics Creative Analysis System, out of it's application in the statistical data analysis.

We evaluate the toughness of a League in two concepts:
"Top-Heavy" and "Top-to-bottom".
A "top-Heavy" League have 4 or 5 regular teams on the schedule. Play each of them twice a year, so you can catch a breather during 8 or 10 games.

Defensive Assists is a new statistic, which is being registered by the eBA System. Defensive Assists ( takeaways or defensive recovery of a fumble, or an interception ) are credited to players for forcing an opponent into a turnover.

A comment about the Top-Heavy & Top-to-bottom Conference answer. No coach can have his team at top intensity each game. At a "top-heavy" conference, the emotional strain is harder on the players than the physical one.
On the contrary, in a conference that's considered "top to bottom", teams often get burned out.

Un comentario sobre las Ligas Top-Heavy & Top-to-bottom. Ningún entrenador puede mantener a su equipo al máximo de la intensidad en cada partido. En una liga de "máxima intensidad -'top heavy'- ", la tensión emocional es mayor en los jugadores que la tensión psicológica.
Por el contrario, en una liga que es considerada de "menor intensidad -'to to bottom' -, los equipos a veces se "queman".

Pick up games normally goes to 11, 15 or 21. The first team to score 11, 15, or 21 baskets wins. Each basket is worth one point. With a lot of time to go, 21 is a good run, on the contrary or if other players are waiting to play, 15 or 11 is better. But, sometimes games only go to 7.
Somebody knows why these numbers ? Why not 9 ? 13 ?


Los partidos "pick up" son a 11,15  o 21. El primer equipo que convierte 11, 15 o 21 puntos ganará. Cada canasta tiene el valor de un punto. disponiendo de mucho tiempo 21 es un buen partido, de lo contrario o si hay jugadores aguardando para jugar, 15 o 11 son mejor. Pero, a veces los partidos se juegan solo a 7 puntos.
