En mi opinión, y de esta manera trabaja el Sistema eBA de Análisis Creativo de las Estadísticas del Baloncesto, nosotros debemos tener la posibilidad de registrar dos asistencias – como en hockey – en una jugada.

Como fue indicado en otros mensajes, "muchas veces, un armador da un gran pase, y otro jugador hace el pase que conduce a la canasta". El primer pase debería obtener algún crédito, pues puede ser más importante que el segundo. Por el otro lado, un gran pase que deriva a una falta realizada sobre el lanzador no es generalmente acreditada como una asistencia, y así debería ser, o no ?

In my opinion, and in this manner works the eBA Basketball Statistics Creative Analysis System, we must be able to give two assists - like in hockey - on one play.

No, por las mismas razones y con los mismos fundamentos explicados por Sebastiani en el mensaje anterior:
El estadígrafo debe proteger la confidencialidad de la información  y no  revelar información privada referente a su equipo de baloncesto sin el consentimiento del entrenador principal. Es un tema por demás interesante que fue elevado justamente ayer 07/07/2006 en el Curso de Estadísticas eBA EN-LINEA con el tópico "Estadísticas & Estadígrafos".

El próximo Curso Abierto de Registro de las Estadísticas del Baloncesto comienza EN-LINEA el próximo Lunes 02/03/09 - 21:00 UTC.

Si los entrenadores charlan unos con otros, intercambian ideas y participan de clínicas.... puede el estadígrafo  compartir sus conocimientos con otros estadígrafos utilizando los datos de su equipo en plena temporada ? Tiene el Sistema eBA de Análisis de las Estadísticas del Baloncesto alguna línea de trabajo referente ?


If coaches talk to  each other all the time, interchange ideas and participate in clinics.... can the statistician share his knowledge with another statisticians using the data of his team in the middle of the season ? Has the eBA Basketball Statistics Analysis System a referred line of work ?

Sobre el Estadígrafo y el Entrenador: Mientras que las estadísticas proveen un mapa de ruta, el entrenador durante el partido debe de tener el sentimiento del juego. Los números del estadígrafo pueden ayudar al entrenador a comprender lo que está ocurriendo, pero durante el juego el entrenador está solo frente al campo.

En baloncesto, no hay ningún jugador solo en el plato de béisbol, aislado frente a un oponente una y otra vez como en una batalla entre el bateador y el lanzador. Los lanzamientos de un jugador de baloncesto varían en dificultad en base a la habilidad de sus compañeros y el deseo de pasarle el balón.

El estadígrafo trata de medir estos elementos enfocándose en la eficiencia, tanto del equipo como individual. Cuántas veces ocurren acciones positivas en el juego cuando un determinado jugador toca el balón ? Cuántas veces evita acciones negativas en defensa ? Quién en más positivo en los lanzamientos que toma ? Quién es más negativo ?

Estas son sólo algunas de las preguntas que requerirán del estadígrafo un enfoque científico para contestarlas, cuestión en la que este curso trata de resolver en el primer nivel.

About the Statistician and the Head Coach: Meanwhile statistics may provide a road map, the coach during the game have to have the feel of the game. Statistician's numbers can help the coach understand what's going on, but during the game the coach is alone in front of the court.

In basketball, no one is alone at home plate as in baseball, isolated against an opponent again and again like the batter-pitcher matchup. A basketball player's shots vary in degree of difficulty based on his teammates' ability and willingness to set him up with a pass.

The statistician tries to measure those things by focusing on efficiency, both by a team and an individual. How often does a certain player make good things happen when he touches the ball ? How often does he keep bad things from happening on defense? Who gets better the more shots he takes? Who gets worse?

Those are only some of the questions the statistician takes a scientist's approach to answering, subject on which this course tries to resolve in the first level.

En primer lugar, en las primeras horas de la temporada, y a efectos de eliminar desde el principio toda duda acerca del trabajo como estadígrafo, un acuerdo documentado entre el director del equipo de baloncesto y el estadígrafo ciertamente harán más claras y comprensibles las obligaciones y derechos de cada una de las partes. Si el acuerdo es de permiso total, no tenemos ningún problema.

Ahora bien, cuando el estadígrafo trabaja para un equipo de baloncesto, es claro que los datos le pertenecen a la institución. Si en la pre-temporada  fue acordado por contrato que la institución es la dueña de los datos, y al estadígrafo le es parcialmente permitido utilizar los datos con finalidades de publicación, obviamente existe una obligación de no revelar las identidades de la institución ni el equipo a efectos de proteger su derecho al anonimato de acuerdo con el derecho de  uso limitado. En cualquier caso, el entrenador principal y el director del equipo deberían ser informados de esa intención de usar los datos y ellos deberían recibir una copia de la investigación.

First of all, at the early stages of the season, and in order to eliminate doubt from the beginning of the statistical employment, a document of agreement between the basketball team's manager  and  the statistician certainly would make clear and more comprehensible each party's respective obligatory preconditions and rights. If the agreement involves a total permission, we´ll have no any problems.

Now, when the statistician works for a basketball team, data ownership clearly belongs to them.  If it was agreed at the preseason and contractually that the basketball team owns the data, and the statistician is partially allowed to use the data for publication purposes, obviously there is an obligation to hide the basketball team's and institution's identities to protect their rights to anonymity in accordance with this right of limited use.  In any case, the head coach and the manager  should be informed of such intended use of data and supplied with a copy of the final written research.
